Give my cat a what?

So now I have my cats meds. I have to give her a pill. Now how do you give a cat a pill, you ask? OH they showed me. Even demonstrated on a cat. Then the cute young vet came out to tell me again even though I'm sure he heard the tech tell me how (*blush* flattered*)

Wish me luck. She has all her claws, will I be a bloody stump by next week? *sigh*

Ah, Good Luck? I've never had to give my cats pills only the dogs... so for those of us in the dark could'ya give us a hint?

You need to cover their eyes with your palm while your fingers and thumb are on either side of their mouth. You pry their mouth open and with your other hand pull down on their chin. When they open their mouths you drop the pill into the very back of their mouth. I haven't tried it yet since I'm waiting for hubby's help.

Ouch! That can't be good! Best of luck! If we don't hear from you in a while we'll know your fingers are in no shape for typing.

LMAO.... funny. Thanks. And she'll need this done for the rest of her life. *sigh*

Perhaps you should look into those voice recognition programs. A friend of mine has one called "DragonSpeak" -- works great!

Thanks for the vote of confidence. *chuckle*

The good news is that she HAS to get used to it...eventually...and then it should be easier b/c she's used to it.

Both of our dogs get an allergy pill every day, but we hide it in a mini marshmallow and throw it to them...they LOVE it! They have no idea there's a yucky pill inside it.

Good luck! Can you pay extra to get them in tuna flavor?

I hope so Sally. She got her first pill. Hubby had to hold onto her, which she hates. She clenched her jaw, not at all like the cat the vet and lab tech demonstrated on. Wtf?

But it's in her belly.

John....;) No they don't make it in tuna flavor. Don't I wish.

If your cat gets a little fiesty during this moment, it is best to wrap him/her in a towel to prevent being clawed while administering the pill. This worked for me, just a suggestion. The cat wont like the towel much either but maybe you can spare yourself the blood loss.

When Tilly had to have medicine, We gave it to her in a syringe opened her mouth and squirted the stuff in her mouth. Once it hit her throat she spat it everywhere all over me who was holding her, all over mum who was putting it in her mouth and all over the kitchen and this stuff was white and sticky lol.

Thank you Terry for the tip. I'll try that today. If I can find that cat!

Awwww, Rachel emma, that sounds messy. LOL. My daughter does that to me too. *chuckle*
